Jared joined K&D as an associate in June 2020. He is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and he has helped his clients to obtain patents, trademarks, and copyrights, spanning a wide variety of technologies and arts. He has also helped his clients successfully defend against claims of infringement in each of these areas. Jared also brings experience in representing public entities, including general counsel work for school districts, and eminent domain litigation for water and special parks districts.
Jared began his career as a scientist, working with adult stem cells at UC Davis in hopes of finding cures for genetic diseases. His passion for science and technology eventually led him to transition to intellectual property law.
While away from the office, Jared likes to backpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains, enjoy the riches of the California Central Coast, and play the part of favorite uncle.
Jared received his Juris Doctor with Distinction, and a Certificate in Intellectual Property from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 2014. While attending Pacific McGeorge School of Law he served on the boards for the Intellectual Property Student Association, the Student Bar Association, and the Moot Court Honors Board.
Before becoming an attorney, Jared earned a Master of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2011 from California State University, Sacramento, and a Batchelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2003 from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
